Sezzle

Tell me about Sezzle:

Sezzle 101

Sezzle is a payment solution that gives you the freedom to buy now and pay later - with no interest!

When you place an order through Sezzle, our unique approvals system reviews your account to determine what sort of repayment plan we can offer. In most cases, it's 25% of the order total due up-front (also called your "downpayment" or "first installment"), with the remaining amount divided up across three more installments, each due two weeks apart. No interest, no up-front or hidden fees. In fact, as long as you pay off your installments on time, there are no fees at all!

When your order is placed, Sezzle pays the merchant in-full for the order immediately - so the merchant has their funds and is able to process your order just like you had paid them in full with a credit card! This isn't layaway, so the merchant fulfills your order within their normal shipping and processing times.

Our checkout is straight forward - simply shop at a merchant that offers Sezzle, select "Sezzle" at checkout, and we walk you through the rest of the process.

What's the catch?

There's no catch. We don't charge interest, and we only charge fees if a payment fails or you need to adjust the date of your payments more than once per order.

List of Fees for failed payments and or payment date adjustments:

$5 Fee - Rescheduled Payment Fee

When you reschedule your payments on an order for the second or third time, a $5 fee is added on to your next upcoming payment. Since we notify you of the fee before you reschedule your installments, there is not a way for you to remove the fee.

$10 Fee - Failed Payment Fee

If we aren't able to process a payment (often either because a card expired or there are not sufficient funds within the account), a $10 fee is added to that payment. However, this fee can be waived automatically if you successfully pay off the payment within 48 hours of the failure.

Any Fee Charged Separately

While you could have multiple fees on an order (rescheduling fees and a failed payment fee), Sezzle fees are always charged with the payment. For example, if you had a $10 payment with a $5 fee, it would show as a single $15 charge on your payment method.

If you see a separate fee tied to Sezzle on the statement from your bank or credit card company, that's most likely a fee that they have charged. This typically happens when there were not enough funds available for the transaction. Sometimes called an "overdraft," "courtesy," or "NSF fee," they commonly are around $30 but can be larger than $50. If you see one of those fees on your account, please reach out to your financial institution directly - they are the only ones that can see the fee and will be the only ones who can explain why it was charged.

Does this impact my credit ?

To help prevent fraud and verify your identity, we do run a soft credit check (or "soft inquiry") when you sign up with Sezzle. This has no impact on your credit score.

At this time, we do not report your Sezzle usage to any of the credit bureaus, so your Sezzle history also doesn't impact your credit score (either positively or negatively).

Getting started-Who can use Sezzle

  • Have a working email address
  • Have a non-prepaid payment method available
    • For shoppers in the US, this can be a bank account, a debit card, or a credit card

How does the checkout with Sezzle process work?

Our checkout is straight forward - simply shop at a merchant that offers Sezzle, which Charm a Cartel offers via your payment options. Select "Sezzle" at checkout, and they will walk you through the rest of the process from there

Why was I denied the option of using Sezzle?

Sezzle is all about financial empowerment - not helping our users dig themselves into debt. Because of that, we don't provide a fixed credit limit that can be "maxed out." Instead, every time you go to place an order, our unique approvals process reviews your Sezzle account to determine whether or not we're able to approve the purchase.

This is an entirely automatic system and not something that we are able to override. It's totally normal to start out with a small order, even just an item or two, and work your way up to being able to Sezzle large orders.

However, there are some things that you might be able to do to get an order approved!

Please go to: www.sezzle.com for more details on your declined order

How do I pay off an order in full or early?

While there's no way to pay off an order in full immediately with Sezzle during checkout, you are able to pay off your installments early once the order has been placed. We don't charge any pre-payment fees or interest, so there's no direct benefit to paying off an order early. However, paying off an order in full early may increase your chances of getting a new order approved, so we recommend doing so if you've been declined.

There are two main methods - logging into your account and directly paying off installments early, or updating your scheduled installments to come out earlier than originally scheduled.
